Live Ornament Calligraphy for the Merry Mary Bash - Mary Chris Smith’s 60 Birthday Celebration in Tampa!
Live event artist are conquering the experiential marketing and luxury market scene! So naturally, as a calligrapher and engraver this is quickly becoming my most popular service, not only because guests love to see their name on products on everyday products, but also because of how fast and efficiently I can personalize on most surfaces! Last Christmas I got the opportunity to work at the most incredible pink Christmas party in Tampa, Florida. The three day celebration was honoring Mary Chris Smith’s 60th birthday and was referred to as the “Merry Mary Bash” or “MC60 Bash”. Each guest received a personalized ornament (pink, obviously!) as well as other goodies.
The live on-site calligraphy event consisted of writing the guests initials, name or message on their ornament along with a hand-drawn illustration - they got to pick between a Christmas star, flamingo and the MC60 logo. I was able to write on over 150 ornaments in the course of four hours!
T H E D E T A I L S
I worked with Noor Zufari Creative and Table 6 Productions to bring this beautiful event to life. There were several live artists and creative stations including ballet dancers, musicians, custom cookies and I of course, was in charge of providing live calligraphy.
The event took place at The Vinoy Renaissance in St. Petersburg, Florida. I was stationed outdoors on a custom gingerbread house overlooking the dance floor for the eight hour long event. The even had me wear an elf shirt to match the pink theme of the party!

Guests loved the complementary calligraphy activation so much, that they were recording me the whole time and sharing about the event on social media! Most of them didn't know this type of personalization was possible by hand and kept complimenting my speed and calligraphy style. In fact, there was a line in our station the whole night!
*I can engrave calligraphy and block letter fonts on metal, glass and high quality acrylics and also offer live calligraphy, painting and foiling/embossing services.
My personal favorite — guest’s came up with the most unique personalizations! They lined up, provided us with their desired text and then came back at the end of the night to pick up their fully custom ornament which was beautifully packed in pink bag.
Someone even requested an ornament for their dog, who had passed away a few days prior. They couldn't hold back the tears once they received the beautiful ornament! #ahandfulofletters
